It doesn't work like that.
I believe the backup solution you have in place is TSM.
Like I said before there appears to be an issue with connection to the TSM server and most probably this could be due to a badly installed TDP. (One of the many possible reasons).
I would get hold of a backup specialist and get him check this.
One thing which you could possibly do is to restart the prole process and see if that helps.
